Baby Bird...

My last bird in the nest is growing up too fast! Went and got the ole drivers permit! She took drivers ed this last summer-but has not been behind the wheel in a long long time. So she passed (bummer) -called her Dad! Thrilled!! We walk to the car and she heads straight for the drivers door. I was NOT ready for this!! OK- we live in a very small community,what could it hurt. See gets behind the wheel-checks everything out. Now I'm feeling a little more relaxed-Until she says "OK, is the little petal the gas?"

I thought I was going to throw up!!

We got home in one piece. OMGosh! Going to take a nap.

Yarn Along

My first try at Ginny's Yarn Along.

Finally have the yarn picked out for this wedding project that is stressin me out!! But everytime I pick it up to work on it the stress seems to melt away? My Mother says it's because "it's going to be perfect"!

I picked up my new Cook's Country to check out the recipe for "Fairy Gingerbread"? Will be trying this soon.





Soon the mail came and in it was a package from our daughters 1st grade class. Letters to Dr. Letters wishing him safety in Iraq and also thanking him for his service. My eyes are still damp... It is so much harder this time. It is for 3 months only, but it's still hard.

ski weekend

Off to Colorado!! Winter Park, 11 inches of new snow! This will be our last trip out before Dr leaves for Iraq. We bought a new w/d for the condo -no more laundry mat! If you want to meet the colorful people of a town-hang at the mat! I really learned a lot. Good & bad. Maybe not all true?

Our daughters wedding is in Winter Park- so meeting with the florist and the sound guy. I better bring my check book!!!

Went to Pilates yesterday-can't put my bra on without pain? out of shape? Yes!
Bird's bday is next week. 15 years old, and we are having a party here Saturday night. 9 girls & 9 boys. 8-11pm. Pray for me!!!

Look what came in the mail today!!! Going to whip up some swatches/gauge squares to mail off to my daughter to see which matches her wedding dress. Then I can get started on her shrug.

really hate to count the days till.... but I did last night and it was a little sobering.

59 days and Dr leaves for Iraq.

190 days he could be home.

200 days till the wedding.........

not movin off the couch...

I use to think weekends were for kickin back, taking it easy and rest!! WTHeck? I am pooped! When you try to cram too many fun things in the weekend-you get one crabby mom on Sunday!

I won't bore you all with the crazy details, but all I can say is 12 girls overnight after the basketball game??? The Bird ( our daughter, last one in the nest..other sibs call her The Bird) is a cheerleader and her squad felt they needed a "Bonding" night. So in a super weak moment I said yes. Didn't turn out too bad. I sent Dr & the dogs to the shabin for the night and I hung around with a glass(bottle) of Mr Kendall Jackson chardonnay. The deal was everyone had to be gone by 10am. I woke up about 7:30 and wiped up some breakfast and here they came... a few Mom's came in for coffee too.

I used my griddle on my stove for the first time. Yes-Have owned this stove for 5 years and never wanted it to get dirty??? Yep that's how I roll! But -I loved it!! Minimal mess and perfect pancakes. The one thing I have in my kitchen that I love & use all the time is my warming draw. Keeps everything nice & hot!!

Spending the rest of the day in front of the tube with my eyes closed or working on the "wedding shrug" project. #1 daughter asked me to knit her something to wear after the ceremony. So I have to August to come up with something. I have a idea-making a practice run on some yarn I have laying around, but have my eye on some pretty silk, La Luz 100% silk. Beautiful!

Ps... My Job!

I mentioned I changed jobs! This is a much better gig for me. Yes, I am still Mediating. But I am a contract Mediator now. Work less- Make more??? True. I still have a contract with a Native American Tribe to be all their mediation, love them!! I work from home and pick my hours. Most of my divorce cases are motivated parents who want the best for their family and are willing to work on it. So it's better. Much better!!

Off to the couch..

New Year - New Directions

I'm not really a believer in New Year resolution stuff, starting the New Year off on the right foot etc... all that has never played out for me. But for some reason I decided to take control of a few things in my life and they all happened in December. So January is uncharted territory?? 2011 if looked at as a whole freaks me out. But breaking it down, event by event makes it appear possible. So what did I do & whats going on?

1. Changed Jobs- the best thing EVER!!



2. Dr.(husband) being deployed AGAIN to Iraq!!



3. #1Daughter getting married. In another state, Colorado.



4. #1D moving to Salt Lake City before the wedding.



5. Dr. insisting to having a reception in our home state after the wedding.



6. 15 year old daughter- do I say more?



7. Did I mention I changed jobs???



8. Why we thought we needed another dog? Margie our new little silkie terrior. Who is running our lives and who is in charge of EVERYthing.

Glad to be back and looking forward to sharing these future adventures. The last time I was up and running was great. Meet some really neat people. I even meet face to face with a fellow blogger in November. It was really nice. Hope to get to see her at her restaurant next year again!!

My blog will probably show a lot on my newest obsession-knitting. Have always been a knitter-but have cranked it up a notch. Even dragged my family to an Alpaca farm!!

Back in the Saddle??

It's been awhile, but I have been throwing around the idea of coming back to "blogger land". It was either that or going into some kind of therapy. Needless to say life is on a fast pace here and with the huge possibility of a train wreck here& there.

Do not know where this is going to take me? But what the heck? What could it hurt.
